Did you know that buying and selling a home during the holiday season can actually be a great idea? Today I want to discuss some advantages buyers and sellers receive when selling during the holiday season.
For sellers, one of the best perks is that there will be less competition. Many people decide it isn’t worth the hassle to list during the holidays, so they wait until after New Year’s Day to make a move. That means that there are fewer homes on the market for buyers to be looking at. So that means that your home is a top priority to the buyers out looking. These buyers are serious and prepared to make offers.
You’ll also be able to negotiate better terms and potentially a better price because your home is one of the only ones on the market. Plus, you’re already cleaning, decluttering, and putting out your Christmas decorations, so your home is in perfect condition to let all the buyers come in and see it in all of its glory.
“Your home will be one of the only ones on the market.”
Meanwhile, if you are a buyer, what advantages are there for you during this time? Just like with sellers, there is less competition. Many buyers don’t bother to look for homes during the holidays. That means there’s less chance for you to get in bidding wars and pay extra.
Plus, making a move during the holidays can make some fantastic memories. One of my favorite Christmas memories was when my family made a move during the season. We didn’t have time to unpack after moving in, so we ate Christmas dinner on paper plates on top of boxes. However, we were all giddy because we were in our new, beautiful home.
