Here are some essential tips for selling in this unique real estate market.
In our last market update, we talked about what our hot seller’s market means for buyers and sellers. Today we’re specifically talking to sellers about how they can take advantage of this unique market.
It’s more important now than ever that your home looks its best when you list it. Here are some key tips to make sure that happens:
1. Purge and declutter. We’ll remove unnecessary personal items that won’t be appealing to new buyers. This can be hard on us because many of these items have great sentimental value, but keep in mind that this is a strategy to help capture new buyers and allow them to see themselves living in your home.
“A fresh coat of paint can go a long way for buyers’ perception of your home.”
2. Curb appeal. Curb appeal is a measure of how a home looks as a buyer pulls up to the curb, and there are a few key areas you’ll want to cover. Start by pressure washing your sidewalks, driveway, porch, and deck. Next, have your yard professionally mowed and trimmed, along with any trees or shrubs. Finally, put fresh mulch and pine straw around the installations so they look fantastic.
3. Paint. This is a great investment for both the exterior and interior of your home. Imagine how great that first impression is going to be with a fresh coat of paint on your exterior trim and a brand-new front door.
One thing to keep in mind is that every home is unique. There is also one more critical step to get right: Interview and hire a great listing agent. They will help you with the recommended repairs, staging, and pricing to make sure you get the best possible offer and are able to navigate the transaction process successfully.
